Valentina Hardin recibió un Doctorado en Currículo e
Instrucción en la Universidad de Houston, con una especialización en
Pedagogía Bilingüe y Lecto-escritura.
En la Universidad de Houston desempeñó el cargo de Profesora
Asistente de Investigación en donde se dedicó a trabajos de investigación
sobre la lectura del estudiante bilingüe. En su cargo como Profesora Asistente de Investigación
también preparó a maestros bilingües en diagnósticos de lectura requeridos
por el Estado de Texas. Fue la
autora principal del libro Guía de Actividades de Intervención que
acompaña el diagnóstico Tejas Lee. Antes de ingresar al programa del
doctorado, la Dr. Hardin fue maestra bilingüe de kindergarten y de primer
grado en el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Houston (HISD). Además de ser maestra en la escuela
primaria, la Dra. Hardin ha tenido la oportunidad de enseñar el idioma
español para personas adultas en un instituto privado por más de cinco años. En el presente, su profesión como consultora bilingüe le permite
trabajar en la escuela primaria con niños de habla hispana que demuestren
tener dificultades en pasar el examen estatal TAKS, así como con los
maestros y tutores encargados de ayudarles. La Dra. Hardin domina el idioma español y el inglés a un
alto grado de fluidez.

Valentina
Hardin received a Doctorate in Education, with a specialty in
Curriculum and Instruction and a focus on Bilingual Education
and Reading, from the University of Houston.
She worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the University
of Houston, where she conducted research in the area of reading,
with bilingual students.
In her capacity as a Research Assistant Professor she
also trained teachers on how to utilize reading diagnostics
required by the State of Texas. She was the principal author of the
book Intervention Activities Guide to be used with the
reading diagnostic Tejas Lee.
Before working on her doctorate, she was a kindergarten
and first-grade bilingual teacher at the Houston Independent
School District (HISD). In addition to teaching at the elementary
school level, Dr. Hardin has had the opportunity of teaching
Spanish for adults at a private institute for over five years. Presently, her profession as a bilingual
consultant enables her to work at the elementary school level
with Spanish-speaking readers who are having difficulties passing
the state test TAKS, and with the teachers and tutors who are
assisting these learners. Dr.
Hardin is fluent in Spanish and English.
